At Aldersgate, we recognize that we have the power to positively influence the world around us. Every choice defines our legacy. To that end, we are advocates for diversity, inclusion and equity.
We’re located in the ethnically and culturally diverse Eastside community and have team members from 34 countries. In 2016, the Board of Directors at Aldersgate embarked on an organization-wide diversity, equity and inclusion strategic plan. We are the first Life Plan Community in the country with its own Chief Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Officer to help us navigate and embrace the many dimensions of diversity, which includes but is not limited to age, race, religion, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, disability, culture, socioeconomic status and other characteristics that make our senior living community unique.
Furthermore, because 9 out of 10 LGBTQ people fear discrimination in care settings, Aldersgate has committed to SAGECare training to help us become active conscious allies in supporting our LGBTQ residents. Platinum level SAGECare is the highest level offered and we are proud to uphold these standards in our community.
