FAQs

Are pets allowed in the homes and apartments?

Aldersgate’s living options are all pet friendly. Plus, we have our own off-leash dog park and miles of trails and walking paths for owners to take their four-legged friends for a stroll. If you have mobility issues, you can schedule dog walking and discuss other pet care needs with Aldersgate At Home services.

Do residents park their personal vehicles at Aldersgate?

Personal vehicles are welcome at Aldersgate. We have many convenient parking options throughout our campus. With that said, many find that using a golf cart is a great way to get around the community, and others choose to walk or ride bikes.

Are there events for families?

As we as a society are opening back up as COVID cases decline, so will our events and activities for families and visitors. Check out our What’s Happening section for up to date info.

Will I need to change doctors?

No, Aldersgate makes it easy to continue seeing your current healthcare provider.

How do I join as an independent living resident?

  1. Residents join the community as active, independent adults by selecting a residence of their choice.
  2. Upon selection, a 10% deposit (of selected entrance fee) is made to hold their cottage, apartment or villa until move-in.
  3. Residents pay a one-time entrance fee prior to moving in, then an ongoing monthly service fee. These fees vary based on the style and size of the residence chosen and whether it is occupied as a single person or a couple.
  4. Residents move to Aldersgate and enjoy the freedom and peace of mind provided by not having to worry about home maintenance and/or burdening loved ones with potential future long-term care needs.

What is home care (Aldersgate At Home)?

Our home care, called Aldersgate At Home, provides clients and their loved ones with peace of mind, knowing that qualified team members are fulfilling needs and overseeing their plan of care every day. However, it can be an ongoing service if the patient, resident or family wishes to pay out of pocket.

What is home health care?

Individuals utilize home health services after a short-term rehab stay in a skilled nursing facility. It includes physical, occupational and speech therapy; skilled nursing services; the administration of medications (may include injections), wound care and pain management; and the monitoring of health status.

What’s it like there with COVID-19?

While COVID-19 is a challenge, we’ve truly made the best of it. Please visit our Life During COVID-19 page to learn about the precautions we’re taking, as well as our “distance socializing” that allows residents to stay social.

Through our close partnerships with health and disease prevention entities, we were able to determine and implement precautions early in the pandemic. As we monitored the pandemic and our precautions were adjusted to best preserve our resident’s safety, we were fortunate to maintain low infection rates. Once vaccinations were approved, we were able to offer our residents and team members onsite vaccination clinics.

Residents are also welcome to be tested every two weeks, free of charge. New residents are tested prior to being allowed to move in. Residents are not required to wear masks indoors or outdoors.

What is a CCRC or a Life Plan Community?

A non-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC), also known as a Life Plan Community, offers those aged 62+ access to both high-quality living and a full continuum of high-quality care. It’s a complete departure from the traditional “institutional” care of past generations. With our vast variety of extensive services, Aldersgate can focus on individual wants and needs with enhanced lifestyle, concierge amenities, wellness opportunities, fulfilling social experiences and rewarding cultural opportunities.

Independent living residents have peace of mind, knowing that if they or their partner need additional care, there’s a full continuum of health services available right where they live. These services include short-term rehabilitation after surgery or medical events, assisted living, long-term care with skilled nursing, memory care, home care and a wellness clinic.

What is a CCRC Without Walls?

Our new CCRC Without Walls program gives future members the best a “continuing care retirement community” has to offer—care and community. You can stay in your home while taking full advantage of everything Aldersgate has to offer on our 231 acres, including our dining, pool and spa, woodshop, exercise programs, social events and much more. Aldersgate is the only Life Plan Community in the greater Charlotte area with this innovative program.

Best of all, you’ll have priority access to move to Aldersgate if you desire. Choose from independent living, assisted living or memory care. You’ll also have priority access to our Asbury Health and Rehabilitation Center for short-term rehabilitation or long-term nursing.

In the meantime, we’ll make sure you have the best wellness coordination and services to stay in your home. Learn more about CCRC Without Walls.
